Take the 30-Day Reading Challenge: Boost Your Skills, One Page at a Time

Are you ready to give your reading habits a real boost?

Whether you want to read faster, understand more, or simply enjoy English texts with greater confidence, this 30-day reading challenge is for you.

Here’s how you can build stronger reading muscles—step by step, in just a few minutes a day.

Why Try a 30-Day Reading Challenge?

  • Consistency builds confidence: Short, daily practice is proven to improve reading skills more effectively than occasional long sessions.
  • Variety keeps it interesting: Mixing up your reading materials and strategies helps you stay motivated and learn new words and ideas.
  • Trackable progress: A challenge gives you a clear goal and a sense of achievement at the end.

How the Challenge Works

  • Time commitment: Just 10–20 minutes per day.
  • Materials: Any English text—articles, stories, blog posts, or even graded readers.
  • Focus: Each week, you’ll practice a different reading strategy to build a complete skill set.

Week 1: Get Comfortable—Build the Habit

  • Day 1–3: Choose something short and enjoyable (news article, story, or blog post). Focus on reading from start to finish—no pressure to understand every word.
  • Day 4–7: Try to read at the same time each day. Notice what topics interest you most.

Tip: Keep a notebook. Write down the title, a new word, and one thing you liked about each text.

Week 2: Skimming and Scanning

  • Day 8–10: Practice skimming—read headlines, subheadings, and first sentences to get the main idea quickly.
  • Day 11–14: Practice scanning—look for specific information (dates, names, facts) in longer texts.

Tip: Set a timer for 5 minutes and see how much information you can gather.

Week 3: Intensive Reading

  • Day 15–18: Choose a slightly longer or more challenging text. Read slowly, highlight new words, and summarize each paragraph in your own words.
  • Day 19–21: Pick a short story or article and answer 2–3 comprehension questions (you can write your own or ask a friend to quiz you).

Tip: Look up unfamiliar words and add them to your notebook.

Week 4: Reflect and Level Up

  • Day 22–26: Try reading something outside your comfort zone (a new topic, a different style, or a graded novel excerpt).
  • Day 27–29: Re-read your favourite text from earlier in the month. Notice what feels easier now.
  • Day 30: Reflect on your progress. What has improved? What do you want to read next?

Tip: Share your experience with a friend or post about your progress on LinkedIn to inspire others!
