EXTRA HARD – Can You Say It? (Language Learning Poem)
This is a classic English poem containing about 800 of the worst irregularities in English spelling and pronunciation. It was written by Dutch writer, traveller, and teacher Gerard Nolst Trenité (1870–1946) to show the deep complexity in English language and pronunication.
It’s super challenging – but it’s definitely worth giving it a go!
As a bit of extra practise, you can download the text and the translation of the poem into the phonemic script.
